Intelligent recharging solutions
EV stands for electric vehicle, also called plugin vehicle, and their popularity is increasing every day. Most of the car manufacturers are bringing their plugin (hybrid) EV to the market as we speak. These are mature vehicles which are a clean and a more energy-efficient alternative then fossil fuel cars, they just plug into the wall and recharge their battery. EV's current autonomy reaches easily 120 km and some manufacturers are even proclaiming 200 to 450 km with a full battery. This is more then sufficient for about 80% of all Belgian commuters who are driving an average of about 40 to 50 km a day. Nevertheless, a comprehensive and sustainable recharging infrastructuur remains a necessity to allow an EV to be recharged while on the road, parked in public or private multistore parking lots, shopping, dinner or during work. Everybody, from the government, corporations till individuals have a vital role in building this intelligent recharging infrastructure for EV's and act in an environmental friendly way. As such, we will be one step closer to zero-emission transport in the 21st century.
If on top of this, these recharging stations provide green energy from renewable sources and are linked into the smart grid, it makes the picture complete: a sustainable living environment where we become less dependent of fossil fuel, cheaper energy source for transportation purposes compared to the daily increasing cost of fossil fuel, a cleaner air with less pollution and a quiter environment. And this is not only important for our own health but even more for the health and the sake of our next generations.
